The annual Autumn Show of Diss & District Horticultural Society
Annual Open Show. 93 classes of vegetables, fruit, flowers, plants and cookery, plus some local WI’s taking part in their own competition. Refreshments available, plant and cake stall. Free entry.
Monthly meeting this month is a demonstration by the florist JanieJane on Wreath making for all seasons. All welcome, Visitors £2.00 entry fee.
We are pleased to welcome Matt Willer of the Papillon Project along to our September meeting. He will be outlining how the project works with schools. Guests will be made very welcome to this meeting (£2.50 fee). The members’ competition will be “a foliage pot plant”.
Our Autumn Gardening Fayre will be held on Saturday 14th September at the Hempton Memorial Hall, The Green, Hempton NR21 7LG. Entries include dahlias, chrysanthemums and other autumn flowers, fruit, vegetables, flower arrangements, photography, craft and homemade produce. There are 54 classes in all. Our early autumn show will feature Dahlias, cut flowers, pot plants, vegetables and fruit. Advice and information. Second-hand gardening books for sale. Plant Swap. Refreshments available. All welcome. Free admission, donations welcome.
Our next meeting of Affiliated Societies will take place in the Jerningham Room on the first floor of The Costessey Centre. All affiliated societies are invited to send representatives. We discuss common issues and share best practices and ideas, supporting and encouraging each other in the process.
Annette Hurt, an experienced RHS qualified gardener and beekeeper will give us a talk on “Gardening Naturally” followed by a question and answer session. £3 per person. Book in advance to secure a place.
“Behind the Shed Door” A demonstration by Crystal Dyball Raffle for all the beautiful arrangements. All visitors very welcome – £10.
